Austin's goals are quite straightforward as his is to simply complete the Bachelor's program at CSUMB and pursue certifications in whatever can bolster his qualifications. Career goals include working as a software architect and/or develop his own game studio.

Tim's educational goals are quite similar to mine as we are both aiming to pursue a bachelor's degree through the CS online program at CSUMB. From reading his post there seems to be no pursuit of a Master's degree but if there is an opportunity that falls through he wouldn't hesitate to jump to it. Career goal include working as a SYS admin, or a video game developer.

Alexis' educational goals are very short term as she is aiming to pursue all A's in the courses within the CS program and keep up with assignments. Ultimate goal is to pursue a Masters degree from a graduate school. Career goal include working a tech related field in the MLB.

Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas

After going through the previous capstone projects I want to pursue a project that encapsulates a video game. Being able to develop something that is fully functional with networking, maybe with my own game engine, and also have self made art would be very exciting. I was also interested in the PetRecs project as it was really well thought out in managing records of pets and creating profiles for them. That project looked functionally smooth and captivating. Maybe an idea I would have is something similar but for medical records, as I am fairly passionate about working in a software engineering field adjacent to healthcare. Another project that stood out to me was the mobile app of connecting to rappers around the world and free-styling with them. I thought that was interesting and outside of the box of ideas. I am currently unsure if I want to work in a group or do a solo project. I will have to wait and see how much knowledge I can achieve before the capstone projects begin. Right now I'll definitely think it through.

Project Ideas:

1. MedicalRecords Management

2. A video game that encapsulates awareness towards climate change.

3. A social networking app designed for athletes similar to Strava.

Part Three: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week the course lectures and readings covered a lot about the importance of internships and graduate schools. After reviewing the sample internship resume, I've come to realize that I would need to re-evaluate, develop, and enhance skills in order to showcase them on mine. I would need to make my resume stand out and attract potential employers. After going through many of the links, I have became aware of the importance of internships. They offer a lot of hands on experience in the professional world, and contribute to exposing you to applications of modern tools and practices. A problem I have is networking, so I would genuinely need to apply to internships to interact with others in the industry and build connections in a professional setting. Graduate school is also an important step in building a career. I was really captivated in Aisha's thoughts on internships and graduate schools because it gives me a general insight of the future through a perspective of a former CSUMB student. She mentions that seeking these opportunities as early as possible is a good thing and the process is not too complicated. The process includes being able to understand admission deadlines, maintaining a high enough GPA, and evaluating the cost of attendance. The CSUMB official website with tips on supporting graduate school pursuit gave similar ideas for example being able to decide where to apply to, being organized by tracking requirements and deadlines, and again the importance of tuition cost. Looking through these reading has really encouraged me to pursue a graduate school program for a Masters as a soon as I am done with this Bachelors.

For the writing lab portion for this week, we went over the stakeholder analysis portion of our ethical argument essay and also how to apply GenAI to create ideas for our second stakeholder. I've gotten to learn about what constitutes as a stakeholder and the different types of claims used to argue their position. From what I have learned, a stakeholder is someone who is affected or has an interest in a topic/argument being presented playing an impactful role in arguments. An example I would use is the stakeholder in my ethical essay which includes social media companies as an organization that is heavily affected with the use of algorithms, their values as a company through technological innovation, and most importantly their business. I will analyze their position as a stakeholder in an argument related to the use of algorithms creating harmful echo-chamber spaces in social media. Other topics that were important are the five types of claims which include: claims of fact, claims of definition, claims of cause, claims of value, and claims of policy. Being able to identify the different claims and values of a stakeholder will provide great perception of their position on the topic. Two claims that stood out to me regarding my ethical essay are the claims of value and the claims of cause. In terms of claims of value I would use it for stakeholder 1, as this will help analyze the value of the topic towards social media organizations. Claims of cause will be great for my second stakeholder, as it will help analyze the cause and effects of social media algorithms.

Finally I want to touch on the use of GenAI to create ideas for the ethical argument essay. I've learned how to create an instructional prompt for the stakeholder two analysis. There is actually a lot to take note of when generating an AI output for academic writing. Being able to understand the instruction by being very specific to the language model, providing context of the issues, inputting data that will help the model understand specific details, and an output indicator that specifies a desired output such as the size of the essay or a small paragraph. Overall being very specific is the key to generating a good output, but there are also important tasks to consider such as: considering biases, avoiding ambiguity of the output, adding more context to prompt, and being able to perceive the incorrectness and inaccuracies of the model. I would say overall being able to brainstorm ideas using GenAI has been really beneficial to me and has gave me more insights to topic I want to write about.
